Asia Cup 2022: Bangladesh Set To Announce Squad For The Mega Event On August 13 After Multiple Delays – Reports
According to rumors, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) will finally reveal the lineup for the Bangladesh National Cricket Team for the forthcoming Asia Cup 2022 on Saturday, August 13. This announcement has been repeatedly postponed.
On August 8, the Bangla Tigers’ roster for the Asia Cup was scheduled to be unveiled. The BCB, however, requested a deadline extension since several of its important players were hurt.
The BCB was given a deadline extension and requested to reveal the team for the major competition on August 11. They said that it would take a few more days to choose the team, but they again failed to identify the squad.
The great all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan’s association with the business “Betwinner” is one of the main causes for the BCB’s delay in announcing the team.
Najmul Hasan Papon, the BCB president, had said that the all-rounder needed to choose between the sponsorship deal and playing for the nation and later it was reported that the 35-year-old had dropped the deal. Also, the BCB’s cricket operations chairman Jalal Yunus has confirmed the development.
We will announce the squad on Saturday afternoon – Bangladesh source
According to a BCB source who spoke to BDcrictime, the board has agreed to name the captain and team for the major event on August 13 as well.
BCB will announces the Bangladesh team on next Saturday afternoon. One of the insider mentioned in BDcrictime as stating. “We will reveal the squad name and the name of the captain on the same day”.
Nurul Hasan Sohan is the team’s captain for the series against Zimbabwe. He will, however, be unable to compete at the Asia Cup due to an injury. It would be intriguing to watch whether Mahmudullah is given the captaincy duties again by Bangladesh or if a new captain is chosen.
Due to political and economic unrest in Sri Lanka, the Asia Cup event was initially scheduled to be held there but was moved to the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The Asia Cup games will be held in Sharjah Cricket Stadium and Dubai International Stadium, respectively.
